    Mayor's State Of The City Address and Luncheon

    Mayor’s State Of The City Address and Luncheon: Greg painted a 3 ft. portrait of Riverside’s Mayor, the Hon. Ronald Loveridge during this event at the Riverside Convention Center on January 24, 2008. This annual event is attended by more than a thousand local business leaders, government officials and other interested citizens. Riverside recently formally adopted “City of the Arts” as it’s official theme. Greg was happy to participate in showcasing the vibrant local arts community.

    Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Foundation

    Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Foundation: Greg was very honored to have been commissioned to create an original painting that was unveiled at the LLUCHF’s annual black tie Gala on March 9, 2008. Greg’s painting, which honors the hopeful imagination of children will hang in the Hospital’s main lobby. High quality reproductions of the paintings will be given to major sponsors of the annual event. Reproductions will also be available for purchase by the pulic, with proceeds benefiting the Hospital.

    Artscape

    Artscape: On March 18, 2008, Greg performed at the County of Riverside Administrative Center wherein he helped kick off the 2008 Artscape Exhibit. He painted to music in the ground floor atrium area and completed four large canvases with portraits of popular musicians during the four hour performance. The portraits will hang for the next six months as part of the exhibit in the atrium. The Administrative Center is located at 4080 Lemon Street, Riverside, CA 92501.

    National Veterans Art Competition

    National Veterans Art Competition: On June 6, 2008, Greg accepted an invitation to serve as juror for this national level judging of art works that have already won local competitions from across the nation. The artists are all military veterans who have been treated at VA medical centers in the U.S. Winners at this national level will be invited to the 2008 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival hosted by the Loma Linda VA Medical Center, October 20-26, at the Riverside Convention Center. Art is part of the VA recreational therapy program for our veterans who are recovering from disease or injury.

    2008 Art @ The Heart of Dos Lagos

    July 11, 2008 Art @ The Heart of Dos Lagos. This was the second installment of the monthly Summer series. Greg performed on stage at the Amphitheater at Dos Lagos during which he painted large canvases quickly, accompanied by a live band. The theme for the event was the 60’s and Greg embraced that theme with live paintings of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix and Mick Jagger. The highlight of the evening was Greg’s painting of Jimmi Hendrix which to the crowd’s surprise, he painted upside down!

    Exhibit at Frankie's Steak and Seafood

    August 2008 through February 1, 2009 (Reception was held Oct. 12, 2008)- Exhibit at Frankie’s Steak and Seafood, Temecula, CA. This is perhaps Temecula’s most upscale, elegant dinner venue. The restaurant was exquisitely designed to stage fine arts exhibits. Greg accepted an invitation to exhibit a number of large canvases with images of popular musicians, including Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Miles Davis, Diana Krall, Louis Armstrong and Ray Charles. Virtually all of the paintings were created specifically for this exhibit and range in size from 3’by 4′ up to 5′ by 6′. This exhibit will continue through January, 2009.     2008 Artscape Exhibition

    Through September, 2008 Artscape Exhibition at the County of Riverside Administrative Center. Four of Greg’s large scale portraits of poplur music icons are featured in this six month exhibition. The unique aspect of this exhibit is that Greg painted these works on site to music as a performance on March 18 which kicked off the 2008 Artscape Exhibition. This performance was covered by media, including the Riverside Press Enterprise and KNBC. A short video presentation is available through the County of Riverside’s web site.     2008 Portrait Presentation to Riverside's Mayor

    September 20, 2008 Portrait Presentation to Riverside’s Mayor. Greg’s studio portrait of Hon. Ronald Loveridge, Mayor of Riverside, CA was unveiled and presented to the Mayor at the Riverside Mayor’s Ball. This portrait now hangs in the Mayor’s Ceremonial Room, located on the 7th floor in City Hall.

    Riverside Mayor's Ball: "From Bach to Rock"

    September 20, 2008 – Riverside Mayor’s Ball: This year’s theme was “From Bach to Rock”. Greg chaired the decorations committee that transformed Riverside’s White Park into celebration of music. Greg also performed at this event, painting large portraits of Elton John and Jimmi Hendrix. This event raises funds for the Riverside Arts Council.

    Exhibit: Riverside Community Arts Association

    Exhibit: Riverside Community Arts Association: In October and November, 2007, Greg had about 18 pieces of his art work in an exhibit at Riverside Community Arts Association, titled The Creative Flame.     Taste of the Towns

    October 5, 2008 – ‘Taste of the Towns’. Greg was commissioned by the Arthritis Foundation, Inland Empire Chapter to create an original painting for its 2008 celebration held at the Riverside Convention Center. This painting was unveiled at the event and was presented to the Riverside Mariott Hotel where it now hangs in the lobby at the entrance to Olios Restaurant. This painting was also reproduced in various print media, including a number of Gicles that were presented to the event’s sponsors. Greg also performed at this event and painted large portraits of James Brown and Diana Ross. The theme of the event was Motown and entertainment included a Temptations tribute band. Greg created a special studio portrait of the late Melvin Franklin of the origial Temptations. This painting was also unveiled at the event and presented to Mr. Franklin’s widow, Kim English who was the honored guest at the event.

    2008 Art @ The Heart of Dos Lagos

    October 10, 2008 Art @ The Heart of Dos Lagos. This was the 5th and final event in the monthly Summer/Fall series at which Greg performed on stage at the Amphitheater at Dos Lagos. In this case, Gred was accompanied by a live band that was performing Motown music hits. Greg completed four large canvases, each painted in just minutes to to the rhythm of the music, including portraits of creating portraits of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and James Brown.

    Rejuvenate Exhibit

    Nov. 2008 through May 17, 2009, Rejuvenate Exhibit. Greg is participating in an exhibit curated by Corona Art Association at the facilities of Rejuvenate Chiropractic Spa.     2008 Festival of Trees

    November 25, 2008 Festival of Trees – Greg performed at the kickoff gala known as Mistletoe Magic. This elegant evening dinner and fundraiser was attended by 800 and raised a substantial amount of money to benefit the Riverside County Regional Medical Center. Greg performed on stage, painting a 6 foot portrait of John Lennon in just minutes, accompanied by a medley of Lennon’s music. The finished painting was immediately auctioned and brought a handsome price that will benefit the hospital.

    The Palette Magazine

    The Palette Magazine – Self portrait of Greg is featured in the Dec.-Jan. 2008-09 issue of the Palette Magazine. This is a nationally distributed instructional magazine for artists which is published quarterly.

Due to the COVID pandemic, all of Gregory Adamson’s live performances and other in-person appearances have been postponed or cancelled until further notice. He does post regularly to Facebook and Instagram and also does live streaming painting demonstrations and classes, primarily on Facebook.
